Dog Crates and Bedding

Your dog needs a place of his own where he can feel safe and secure. This can be anything from an old towel next to your bed to his very own doghouse.

Chances are you have crate trained your dog. Here he will feel comfortable and know this is his place. Most dogs love their crate and use it to spend the night. A crate is also a good place to keep your dog contained for short periods when you don't want him underfoot.

If you have a small to medium size dog, you may want to get him a nice dog bed complete with mattress. Another good choice, especially if you have a larger dog, would be a pad. This is lightweight and easy to move and your dog will appreciate the comfort.

You can use a pad by itself in any convenient corner. If you have a crate, consider getting a pad for it. This is much easier to keep clean than a piece of carpet on the bottom of the crate and will make it more comfortable for your dog.

When shopping for a pad or dog bed, make sure that the bedding has removable covers that are machine washable.

If you have an outside dog, he will need a weather tight doghouse so he can get out of the heat, rain or cold during the day and also have a safe place to spend the night.

Doghouses are available in plain wood, plastic or fiberglass for dogs of all sizes. You need to get the proper size doghouse so that it serves its purpose. In addition, the opening of the doghouse should be situated away from the direction of prevailing winds.
